Recall Notice: Dual Fuel Range Power Cord Strain Relief Failure

Recall Reference: LC-2024-PC-025  |  Date Issued: May 9, 2024

Affected Models

This recall affects La Cornue Dual Fuel Range models DF-90, DF-110, and DF-150 manufactured between September 2022 and January 2024. Affected units carry serial numbers DF22090001 through DF24011200, located on the rating plate inside the lower storage cavity on the right side wall.

Issue Description

La Cornue has determined that the strain relief bushing on the 240V power cord of the affected dual fuel range models was manufactured with an undersized clamping radius. Over time, repeated flexing of the cord during routine cleaning or minor repositioning of the range can cause the bushing to release its grip on the outer cord jacket. Once the strain relief fails, mechanical stress is transferred directly to the individual conductors at the terminal block connection point, risking conductor fatigue, arcing, and potential electrical fire within the rear cord entry area of the appliance.

Consumer Remedy

Do not pull or flex the power cord beyond its natural drape. Inspect the cord entry point at the rear of the range for any visible kinking, jacket cracking, or loosening of the strain relief clamp. If damage is observed, shut the range off at the circuit breaker and contact La Cornue immediately.

La Cornue will provide and install a replacement power cord with a corrected strain relief at no charge. Contact 1-800-522-6776 or [email protected] to schedule service. This repair requires a qualified electrician and must be performed with the circuit breaker in the off position.
