Recall Notice: Château Range Oven Door Hinge Spring Failure
Recall Reference: LC-2023-DH-004 | Date Issued: October 7, 2023
Affected Models
This recall affects La Cornue Château 75, Château 100, and Château 120 gas and dual fuel ranges manufactured between March 2021 and December 2022. Affected units bear serial numbers between CH21030500 and CH22122000, located on the rating plate inside the lower storage drawer.
Issue Description
La Cornue has received reports of oven door hinge spring fatigue in a subset of Château ranges. The torsion spring assembly used in the heavy-gauge cast iron door hinge mechanism may develop stress fractures after repeated thermal cycling, potentially causing the oven door to fall open unexpectedly when only partially extended. An unsupported drop of the oven door poses a burn risk to the operator and may cause physical damage to adjacent cabinetry or flooring.
Consumer Remedy
As an immediate precaution, consumers should avoid leaving the oven door in a partially open position and should use both hands when opening and closing the door. La Cornue will dispatch a factory-trained service technician to replace the hinge spring assembly at no cost to the consumer.
Contact La Cornue Customer Support at 1-800-522-6776 or at [email protected] to register your unit and arrange a service appointment. Repairs are expected to take approximately 45 minutes and do not require the range to be removed from its installation position.
