Affected Models
This recall affects La Cornue Gas Range models GR-90, GR-110, GR-135, and GR-150 manufactured between April 2021 and June 2023. Serial numbers GR21040100 through GR23062800 are subject to recall. The serial number label is on the inside left wall of the lower storage drawer.
Issue Description
La Cornue has identified a thermocouple response time deviation in the oven burner flame supervision system on affected models. The thermocouple — a critical safety device that shuts off the gas supply if a flame extinguishes unexpectedly — was produced by a supplier using an alloy composition that does not meet the thermal response time specified in EN 30-1-1 and ANSI Z21.1 standards. In the event of an oven burner flame-out caused by a draft, boil-over, or loss of gas pressure, the out-of-specification thermocouple may take up to 90 seconds longer than the required maximum to signal the gas valve to close. This delayed response allows unburned gas to accumulate in the oven cavity, creating a risk of delayed ignition or flash fire when the burner re-lights.
Consumer Remedy
Do not leave the oven unattended while in operation on affected units until the repair has been completed. If the oven flame extinguishes, immediately turn the oven knob to the off position and allow the oven to ventilate for at least five minutes before attempting to re-light. La Cornue will replace the thermocouple and flame supervision valve assembly at no charge.
