Recall Notice: Vault Oven Heating Element Insulation Degradation
Recall Reference: LC-2023-HE-009 | Date Issued: July 18, 2023
Affected Models
This recall affects La Cornue Vault Oven models VO-70 and VO-90 manufactured between October 2020 and June 2022. Affected units have serial numbers between VO20100100 and VO22060750, found on the rating label affixed to the rear interior wall of the oven cavity.
Issue Description
La Cornue has determined that a subset of lower bake heating elements installed in the affected Vault Oven models may contain a magnesium oxide insulation compound that does not meet the company’s long-term thermal stability specifications. After extended use at temperatures above 450°F (232°C), the insulation may develop hairline cracks, which can allow moisture ingress during cleaning cycles. The resulting electrical leakage can trip the appliance’s ground fault circuit interrupter, cause arcing within the element sheath, or in rare cases produce visible sparking inside the oven cavity.
Consumer Remedy
Stop using the bake function on the affected oven immediately if you observe sparking, smell burning insulation, or experience repeated GFCI trips during operation. The broil element is not affected by this recall and may continue to be used normally.
La Cornue will replace the lower bake element at no charge. Contact [email protected] or call 1-800-522-6776 to schedule an authorized technician visit. The element replacement is a standard in-home service procedure requiring no special structural access.
