Recall Notice: Range Hood Junction Box Overheating Risk
Recall Reference: LC-2024-RH-012 | Date Issued: February 3, 2024
Affected Models
This recall covers La Cornue Harmony and Verona Series range hoods (models RH-HM90, RH-HM120, RH-VR90, and RH-VR120) manufactured between May 2022 and November 2023. Serial numbers RH22050001 through RH23111500 are affected. The serial number plate is located on the interior top surface of the hood canopy.
Issue Description
During routine field inspections, La Cornue engineers discovered that the wiring harness crimp connectors within the integral junction box of certain range hood models may have been assembled without achieving full crimp depth. Under sustained high-speed fan operation, resistance heating at the under-crimped connections can cause the connector housing to deform, potentially leading to arcing or localized overheating of the junction box. In worst-case scenarios, this presents a risk of electrical fire within the hood assembly.
Consumer Remedy
As a precautionary measure, limit range hood fan operation to speeds 1 and 2 until the recall repair has been completed. Do not use the high-speed (boost) setting. La Cornue will provide a free replacement junction box assembly and wiring harness, installed by an authorized technician.
To schedule your free repair, contact La Cornue at 1-800-522-6776 or [email protected]. The repair takes approximately one hour and requires temporary disconnection of the appliance from the wall circuit. Ensure power is off at the breaker before the technician arrives.
