Recall Notice: Cooktop Ignition Module Continuous Spark Risk
Recall Reference: LC-2024-IM-007 | Date Issued: June 22, 2024
Affected Models
This recall applies to La Cornue 4-Burner and 5-Burner Gas Cooktops (model series CT4G and CT5G) manufactured between August 2022 and April 2024. Affected units bear serial numbers in the range CT22080001 through CT24040999, printed on the underside of the cooktop frame.
Issue Description
An internal audit has identified a voltage regulation fault in a batch of ignition control modules installed on the affected cooktops. Under certain conditions involving brief power interruptions or voltage spikes from the household supply, the module may enter a continuous spark state even when no burner knob is in the ignition position. Sustained high-voltage sparking produces audible clicking and may cause localized overheating of the igniter electrode, potentially igniting nearby combustible materials or damaging the brass burner cap.
Consumer Remedy
If you observe continuous clicking from your cooktop while all knobs are in the off position, immediately disconnect power at the circuit breaker and refrain from using the appliance until it has been serviced. La Cornue will replace the ignition control module free of charge through its authorized service network.
Register your unit for recall service at 1-800-522-6776 or [email protected]. Please have your serial number available when contacting support. The repair requires approximately 30 minutes and does not involve gas line disconnection.
