Recall Notice: CornuChef Rangetop Flexible Gas Connector Crimp Defect

Recall Reference: LC-2023-GC-015  |  Date Issued: April 29, 2023

Affected Models

This recall affects La Cornue CornuChef 110 and CornuChef 135 rangetop units manufactured between February 2021 and October 2022. Serial numbers CC21020200 through CC22101800 are subject to this recall. The serial number is stamped on the stainless steel plate behind the left front burner after removing the grate.

Issue Description

La Cornue has identified a manufacturing defect affecting the factory-installed flexible stainless steel gas connector on the affected CornuChef rangetop units. A crimping tool calibration error at the supplier’s facility resulted in connector end fittings that do not achieve the minimum compression required by ANSI Z21.24 standards. Over time, thermal expansion and contraction of the connector body can cause the under-crimped fitting to loosen, creating a potential gas leak at the supply connection point. The issue may not produce an immediately detectable odor in installations with strong ventilation.

Consumer Remedy

Do not attempt to tighten or repair the connector yourself. A licensed gas technician or La Cornue authorized service provider will replace the flexible connector at no charge under this recall. Until the replacement is complete, inspect the connection monthly using a diluted dish soap solution applied around the fitting — bubbling indicates a leak and warrants immediate gas shutoff.

Schedule your free connector replacement by calling 1-800-522-6776 or emailing [email protected]. Gas line work requires a licensed plumber or gas fitter in most jurisdictions; La Cornue’s service network will coordinate accordingly.
